Bay Area band BOSSE-DE-NAGE have always been one of the most intriguing bands, extreme metal related, out of the area and its scene even though the band, as prolific as they have been since their first demo “Demo 1” in 2006 demo was released (coincidentally released by Agalloch/Vhol drummer Aesop Dekker), have kept a pretty low profile (i.e. no promo photos, interviews, and live performances were quite rare and few). But it has been through their intriguing mix of black metal and classic early ‘90s indie-rock/screamo/punk along with their thought-provoking lyrics that has defined their visceral sound.

Following their two demos, their three previous full-length albums (released from 2010 – 2012), and their last release which was a split with their friends in Deafheaven, BOSSE-DE-NAGE are preparing to unleash their deadliest, most provoking and vicious work to date. Three years following their last full-length “iii”, “All Fours” sees the band create their most epic album to date, musically, lyrically, and on a production level likewise (the album was produced and recorded by Jack Shirley, known to be responsible with capturing bands such as the aforementioned Deafheaven). Like a soundtrack to someone having the ultimate mental breakdown, “All Fours” harbors the familiar traits within BOSSE-DE-NAGE’s sound while expanding even further into more experimental and noise territory likewise. The result being almost like a companion piece to an album like Deafheaven’s “Sunbather”, all while defining itself as its own entity within the band’s distinct repertoire that sounds unlike anything in extreme music today.

BOSSE-DE-NAGE are one of the most prominent underground bands to combine influences from black metal, early ‘90s indie rock, and classic screamo/punk, and who incorporate said influences most prominently - “All Fours” is easily the band’s best work yet, which follows-up their lauded “iii” full-length from 2012 and the split LP they did with Deafheaven likewise. - For fans of Deafheaven, Slint, Orchid, and Refused.

Seattle funeral/death doom duo BELL WITCH (comprised only of bass, drums, and vocals) made a massive impact in the doom metal scene with their debut album “Longing” (which followed their cult demo that had already generated buzz for the band) which was hailed as one of 2012’s best doom metal releases, even though it was released late in the year, in Nov of said year. Their anticipated new album, “Four Phantoms” (which was recorded and engineered by the legendary and respected Billy Anderson; Agalloch, Pallbearer, Leviathan, Neurosis, Melvins etc.) is BELL WITCH’s most crushing and most moving work yet. With a more honed focus on song structure and more intricate composition, all while taking their sound even further in the soul crushing heaviness realm, “Four Phantoms” is a doom metal triumph for the ages, an album that will go down as one of doom metal’s most triumphant moments of the year with a milestone that no other band in the genre can parallel.

The Texas-based musical contingent known as PYRAMIDS have become quite the musical entity since emerging, almost from out of nowhere, in 2008 with their debut self-titled LP which was released by Hydra Head Records. A record that generated a lot of buzz and acclaim within experimental and extreme metal, with its references to such genres as shoegaze, black metal, ambient/drone, avant-garde, and industrial music respectively.

Following said debut album, PYRAMIDS would suddenly see themselves collaborating with and receiving contributions from a myriad of musicians (also note that the debut album also featured a bonus disc of re-mixes of said tracks from it, re-mixes done by artists such as Blut Aus Nord, James Plotkin, Colin Marston, and Jesu just to name a few), notable artists such as Faith Coloccia (Mamiffer), Simon Raymonde (Cocteau Twins), Albin Julius (Der Blutharsch), and Colin Marston (who PYRAMIDS would work on a regular basis with), along with making collaborative albums with Nadja, Horseback, and Mamiffer respectively.

“A Northern Meadow”, the new full-length PYRAMIDS album, is the band’s direct follow-up (that is not a collaboration or split with any other band) to their 2008 debut. For “A Northern Meadow”, joining the PYRAMIDS lineup (already consisting of R. Loren, M. Dean, M. Craig, and D. Willaim) is Colin Marston (Gorguts/Krallice/Dysrhythmia), Vindsval (Blut Aus Nord), and William Fowler Collins. The result being an encompassing album that stretches the PYRAMIDS sound even further into something even more grand and epic; the band’s most stunning offering yet, through an overwhelming sound picture heavy in atmosphere and ambience. One that is dark, dreamy, and lush, yet claustrophobic, mechanically crawling, and surgically cold at the same time.

Big Business started as a two piece band composed of Jared Warren of Karp and The Tight Bros From Way Back When, and Coady Willis of Murder City Devils. Their sound has been characterized as a bombastic and frantic low end attack, marked by Warren's signature vocal delivery. The band released its first album, "Head for the Shallow", on January 25, 2005.

In late 2006, after relocating to Los Angeles, Jared and Coady both became members of The Melvins, first appearing on "(A) Senile Animal". The tour, titled "the Double-Drumming Rock for Peace tour", featured Warren and Willis playing a set as Big Business before being joined by Crover and Osborne for a set as The Melvins. Big Business started recording material for the new Melvins album, entitled "Nude With Boots"

Such can be said of ACID KING, bubbling up from San Francisco in 1993 through a fog of revved up riffs, thunderous drums, and hypnotic vocal howl. This unholy triumvirate of visionary, vocalist, and guitarist Lori S, drummer Joey Osbourne, and bassist Mark Lamb existed before terms like “stoner rock” and “doom metal” entered the musical lexicon. They unleashed three EPs and three full-length albums, starting with Z oroaster in 1995, the 1999 fulllength Busse Woods, and culminating on 2005’s Acid King III. Their seismic chemistry transfixed audiences everywhere from high-profile festivals such as Hellfest and Roadburn to now iconic shows alongside peers such as Sleep and Mystick Krewe of Clearlight. Formed in Belfast in 2004, Slomatics aim to reduce riffs to a primal state of heaviness, to produce music which whilst imploding under it’s own weight, creates a a joyous and euphoric state of wellbeing which can only be obtained with a slew of vintage amplifiers, fuzz pedals, analog synths and an alarming array of percussion instruments. This has endured through UK tours, gigs in Europe, three albums and a mountain of split/vinyl/cassette releases. 2012’s “A Hocht” was released to widespread critical acclaim, gaining support from around the world which was capped off with a deafening performance at the Incubate Festival in Tilburg.
