Band:LOW ROAR
Album:0
Label:BURNSIDE
Format:CD
Genre:Dance/Electronica

Bay Area native, Ryan Karazija, has found inspiration in Reykjavik, Iceland. It’s this inspiration that epitomizes the sound of Low Roar, which Pigeons & Planes describes as "wonderfully evocative music" and Acid Stag hails as the "Icelandic version of Grizzly Bear". After moving to the small nordic community in 2010, Karazija wrote and recorded Low Roar's debut, self-titled album with the help of Grammy winning producer/mixer Andrew Scheps (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Adele). After releasing the album in November 2011, Karazija recruited drummer Logi Guðmundsson and the two toured Germany, Poland, Lithuania and a myriad of other European countries, eventually joining the Iceland Airwaves and ATP festival lineups, as well as supporting indie favorite Soko. Now with Leifur Björnsson on keys, Low Roar is releasing their second album, 0, on July 8, 2014 which features Icelandic darlings Amiina on strings and is coproduced by Andrew Scheps and Mike Lindsay (Tuung).

SOLDIER OF THE LINE

Band:LARRY MILLER
Album:SOLDIER OF THE LINE
Label:BIG GUITAR
Format:CD
Genre:Blues

Larry Miller has a legendary status as a blues rocker but there is more to Larry Miller. This ninth album, more than any of his other albums, shows his singer songwriting side with an eclectic mix of blues and rock.

The nine tracks were taken from 25 songs written by Larry over the last two years. Larry says “This is my best album ever. I love the blues rock genre but I'm always wanting to hear something more, take it somewhere else but never losing sight of passionate playing from the heart. I really believe we've achieved it on this new CD.”

The other eight tracks on the album range from power blues, as in the opening track ‘One Fine Day’ and blues stomping rockers like ‘Mississippi Mama’ to the beautiful love song Bathsheba and the love lost ballad ‘Failed Again’.

HUGE on the Blues / Blues Rock scene ; already there is a buzz that this is Larry Miller’s best album to date.

SIXTY MINUTE ZOOM - LP

Band:ZOLTAN
Album:SIXTY MINUTE ZOOM - LP
Label:CINEPLOIT
Format:VINYL LP
Genre:Zombi/Goblin

ZOLTAN return with their second full-length album, following hot on the heels of the “Tombs Of The Blind Dead” soundtrack EP on Rise Above Records. Sounding more focused and confident than ever, the 5 tracks that make up “Sixty Minute Zoom” are a continuation and improvement on previous Zoltan releases. Identifying as “cyborg prog” and comparable to forebears Goblin, Heldon and Zombi, Zoltan have succeeded in making a fictional soundtrack for an uncertain age. Inspired by the dystopian sci-fi writers Yevgeny Zamyatin and J.G. Ballard, the album creates a foreboding atmosphere, intimating a near-future urban hell where paranoia and violence are never far away. Pulsating sequencers, eerie analog synths and a pounding rhythm section drive the music into realms of retro-futurist dread, interspersed with brooding interludes that take a pause for reflection without letting up on the intensity for a minute. The album climaxes with the 20 minute song-suite “The Integral”, based on Zamyatin’s prescient 1920s novel We, journeying through a realm of ominous arpeggios, jazz-inflected drumming and creeping synth lines before blasting into inner space. Since 2012’s Cineploit debut “First Stage Zoltan” the band have been honing their reputation as a devastating live act, with appearances including Supersonic 2012 and Dresden’s Cinestrange Film Festival 2013. At the same time they have also been developing a parallel life as interpreters of film-scores on their non full-length releases, to wild acclaim from the international horror cognoscenti. Adaptations of the themes to Brit biker-horror classic “Psychomania” (a 12” release on Cineploit Records in 2012) and the aforementioned 12” on Rise Above show a versatility to Zoltan that will surely see them reap the acclaim they so richly deserve.

FULL OF HELL AND MERZBOW

Band:FULL OF HELL
Album:FULL OF HELL AND MERZBOW
Label:Profound Lore
Format:CD
Genre:Industrial / Experimental

Maryland/Pennsylvanian hardcore/grind unit FULL OF HELL have been making massive waves within the hardcore/grind movement over the last several years through their healthy repertoire of EPs, splits, tape releases, and of course their previous two full-length albums released on A389. The band who constantly tour like crazy and play to packed houses pretty much consistently and are known to put on one of the most intense live shows in heavy music today.

With their latest full-length release, “Full Of Hell & Merzbow”, FULL OF HELL have easily delivered their most intense, punishing and obliterating release to date on their Profound Lore Records debut. By enlisting the services from none other than legendary master of noise Masami Akita (aka MERZBOW) for this new album to provide the extra layers of noise and depth to the already chaotic and brutal sound picture, “Full Of Hell & Merzbow” will serve its purpose as one of the most formidable artistic statements in extreme music this year.

As expected, look for FULL OF HELL to do endless touring surrounding this pillar release.

Exclusive to the CD edition only, will be included a bonus disc entitled “Sister Fawn”, a five-song noise piece which is an extension of MERZBOW’s work with FULL OF HELL.

BACK TO PARADISE

Band:THE DUALERS
Album:BACK TO PARADISE
Label:SUNBEAT RECORDS
Format:CD
Genre:Reggae/Dub/Ska

The Dualers, having delighted thousands at festivals in the UK, Europe and Asia in recent years and with an appeal across all ages, return with their third album of original songs.

From a very early age, Tybers love for Ska and Reggae music developed from the time he spent, with his family. His father, Bill, was a local promoter of Jamaican music in the 1960’s and ran his Savoy Sound System at several locations in south London. At home and on trips out in the family car, the young Cranstoun kids were saturated by the music of The Blues Busters, Lord Creator, Stranger Cole, Bob Marley, The Skatalites, Sam Cooke and Otis Redding to name a few. Roll forward to the current day, those early musical influences are highly pronounced in the songs of the latest album release from The Dualers – Back to Paradise.

The Dualers, led by the distinct crisp vocals of Tyber Cranstoun, take us back to the Jamaican music scene of the 1960’s and 70’s. With 15 original tracks, ranging from the storming hypnotic Ska rhythms of Blazing Fire, to the rolling Reggae lyrics of Big Shot and the smooth Rocksteady vibes of Wonderful Tonight, this latest offering, from South London’s finest, is a refreshing musical delight that is certain to get you moving to the groove. With the added pleasure of guest appearances on some of the tracks, this new album will truly take you Back to Paradise.
