MATILDA

Band:PEKKO KAPPI
Album:MATILDA
Label:SVART
Format:cd
Genre:Folk

The Baltic and Fenno-Ugric region has a rich, albeit obscure ethnic musical heritage. Behind its
official facade, however, lies a rich treasure trove of the darkly macabre and curious. It is this black
cauldron that Pekko Käppi & K:H:H:L peek into. Armed with a jouhikko, an ancient Karelian bowed
three-string lyre, Pekko Käppi weaves stories filled with ecstasy, hellfire and mythical beasts.
Käppi and his cohorts K:H:H:L (Kuolleiden Hillittömäin Hevoisten Luut, which translates as Bones of
Dead Boisterous Horses - a perfect description the music they make) have a highly original sound,
which might be best described as Scandinavian voodoo. They treat the Finnish tradition irreverently
and soak it in darkly magical rhythms.
The group’s debut Sanguis Meus, Mama (2015) was wildly successful in Finland and received several
international nominations as well. The new album Matilda is the second part of a projected trilogy.
“Last summer while sitting by the lake, listening to Roky Erikson and Cookie & the Cupcakes and
boiling the skin off skulls of large animals, visions of men in white dresses partaking in a strange
summertime ritual under animal hides and skulls. This became the opening track of the new album,
and soon I had an entire song cycle", comments Käppi.
Whereas the earlier album was a deep nosedive in the paranoid world of Finnish voodoo, the new
album takes the listeners and their creaky old bones right into the present moment in all its fiery glory
and heartlessness, looking at reality through the bent and untrustworthy lens of the human mind. The
album Matilda is out on Svart Records on March 31st on CD, LP and digital.

Choose Death

Band:BLACK MAGIC SIX
Album:Choose Death
Label:SVART
Format:cd
Genre:Psych/Garage

After three albums and 250 shows in 21 countries during the last five years under their belt, BLACK MAGIC SIX is Finland’s hardest working band in the underground rock´n´roll scene. A power duo consisting of a percussionist and a guitar-wielding singer, BM6 play relentlessly emotional bursts of dark, primal rock’n’roll energy.

With their new album BM6 takes another leap towards the grave this very April when Svart Records puts out their fourth full length album, titled Choose Death. Even though the group themselves often underline their mental, musical and lyrical stagnation, the new opus is a long leap closer to the edge. The title of the album, Choose Death, epitomizes the band's attitude towards their own history and a possible future.

Sailor

Band:HONEST JOHN
Album:Sailor
Label:LION PRODUCTIONS
Format:Vinyl LP
Genre:Stoner/Doom/Occult/Sludge Metal

Unreleased underground Texas hard rock from 1975! First release anywhere, anytime!
Heavy grooves with dense, layered guitars and Deep Purple/Black Sabbath style vocals from
bassist T.J. Sanders. Honest John was a band that meant business at a time when most bands
were softening their sound for radio. Not these guys! Honest John did release an extremely
rare 7" on the Baron label (BRN45006): slinky track 'Brighter Day' b/w the chunky and hard
driving 'Face the Crowd'); but that was all that ever emerged from the sessions until now. It
was in fact all the world knew of Honest John, aside from folks blown away by hearing them
on tour in Texas playing frat parties, bars, military bases, and sleazy rock clubs in the early
1970's. Honest John's "Sailor" is a living, breathing tribute to Ottis Coleman, who should
have long ago been celebrated as a true Texas guitar great. Features Coleman's stellar guitar
and engineered by future Mojave Audio honcho and key figure in 1970's rock in Houston,
Dusty Wakeman. Coleman and Wakeman both later joined Houston blues rockers Buzz
Bone, which featured Dan Mitchell and Tom Moore post-Moving Sidewalks. But it has
always been the Honest John sessions that they longed to have released. We at Lion
Productions are proud to present the album Honest John wanted to release, at long long
last. A small press run of 500x copies, housed in a deluxe gatefold tip-on jacket, sourced
from original master tapes. A definitive statement of heaviness.

Spit Forth From Chaos

Band:CELESTIAL BODIES
Album:Spit Forth From Chaos
Label:BURNING WORLD
Format:Vinyl LP
Genre:Death Metal

In the beginning, there was nothing but the energy of chaos. Absu and Tiamat slept, and dreamed their darkest
dreams. And all was good until their dark dreams began to spawn the cosmic gods. Tiamat and Absu were
disgusted by these abominations. Their wailing disturbed Tiamat’s and Absu’s sleep. Absu and Tiamat agreed
that these worthless abominations must be destroyed…”
With such a premise – a cosmic war between monstrous deities from an ancient, mythological past – it doesn’t
come as a surprise that Celestial Bodies‘ debut, “Spit Forth From Chaos”, is one of the most intense,
hallucinating and mind-shattering sonic experiences ever put on record.
A duo based in The Netherlands and comprised of members from NIHILL and Dead Neanderthals, CELESTIAL
BODIES are exactly the fruit of their unholy union. From Nihill they inherited the pitch-black and noise-drenched
sound, as well as a conceptual approach with deep roots in gnosticism and occultism, while from Dead
Neanderthals they borrowed the avant-garde sensibility and a free-jazz nature built on improvisation.
The result is “Spit Forth From Chaos”, a blasphemous and cacophonously disturbing blend of anti-cosmic black
metal and raw noise, propelled by an imperious drumming that breaks through the gates of perceptions, tossing
the listener into a nightmarish, sense-altering dimension where everything is Chaos, and Chaos is everything.

STARDUST RITUALS

Band:ELECTRIC MOON
Album:STARDUST RITUALS
Label:SULATRON RECORDS
Format:cd
Genre:Kraut / Space Rock

Finally it’s happening, and the long awaited 5th studio release of Electric Moon appears to see the light!
4 tracks, which pack a punch and which went a long way to become what they are now. The oldest tune „Stardust
(The Picture)“ was already recorded in 2014 and was released as instrumental version on 2 live albums so far. But it
got refined with overdubs like vocals and stuff, like all the other tracks, too. This is one of the things which make the
difference between live albums and studio albums, by the way; like also, that improvisation and songwriting get
mixed-up!
„Stardust Rituals“ is painting a journey through the inner cosmos and wants to deliver the insight, that no-one and
nothing gets ever lost, because space is like a jar which keeps us all, in which form ever...
We’re all made of stardust so nothing can happen in the end...
Trippy like always, Electric Moon will carry you off on a trip to the deepest depths of the outermost innermost, cause
in every one of us is a cosmos and we all are together on this common journey, in the same (space-)ship...
Recorded, mixed and produced by Sula Bassana (Dave Schmidt) and mastered by Eroc!
The beautiful round Cover-Painting was painted by Eriko of Mont Doom Design in Italy and Lulu Artwork! just
brought it to shape for the final design and layout.
CD comes in jewel case.
