THE POISONER

Band:SANHEDRIN
Album:THE POISONER
Label:Cruz Del Sur
Format:LP
Genre:HEAVY METAL

Brooklyn's Sanhedrin scale boundaries and elude genre norms on their second studio album, The Poisoner. The band's intoxicating blend of doom and classic metal is complemented by lyrics that delve into the darker elements of humanity and the cyclical nature of destructive ideas. Thought-provoking and inherently catchy at the same time, The Poisoner is indicative of a band unafraid to venture into unchartered territory. Sanhedrin's 2017 A Funeral for the World debut full-length was originally released independently, but reissued for broader release by Cruz Del Sur Music in 2018. The Poisoner picks up where its predecessor left off, with the Brooklyn trio (who consist of former Amber Asylum/Lost Goat bassist/vocalist Erica Stoltz, Black Anvil guitarist Jeremy Sosville and drummer Nathan Honor) parlaying their vast array of influences into eight gripping, instantaneously memorable numbers that rely melodic riff choices, the affecting vocals of Stoltz and touches of dark atmosphere. The Poisoner reflects the various sides of Sanhedrin, from classic, if not soaring jaunts, to tight, direct melds of gallop-oriented metal to doom-channeled motifs, most notably, the album's title track, which features a guest appearance by Stoltz's former Amber Asylum bandmate Kris Force on violin. This diversity is less of a jigsaw than it is the natural melding of various ideas and styles, taking Sanhedrin to new places on each song. On The Poisoner, Sanhedrin defies categorization, hereby entering into their own carved-out space where exploration and timeless songwriting are paramount. TRACKLIST 1. Meditation (All My Gods Are Gone) 2. Wind On The Storm 3. Blood From A Stone 4. The Poisoner 5. The Getaway 6. For The Wicked 7. Saints And Sinners 8. In From The Outside

MELANCHOLIA

Band:VANHA
Album:MELANCHOLIA
Label:BLACK LION RECORDS
Format:CD
Genre:SYMPHONIC DOOM DEATH METAL

Swedish doom/death dealer VANHA returns with a new album Melancholia , the follow-up of their incredible debut, Within the Mist of Sorrow. The band has again teamed up with Black Lion Records for the release of this album. Melancholia will see its worldwide release on digipak CD and digitally this December 30, 2018. VANHA was brought into existence as a side-project of the Swedish multi-instrumentalist Jan Johansson (from the band Frostvang). Jan s purpose was to explore the bleakest, darkest and heaviest of sounds in the field of doom/death that was pioneered by seminal acts like Anathema, My Dying Bride and Katatonia. Jan was soon joined by the drummer Jesse Oinas and the duo soon recorded the debut, Within the Mist of Sorrow, which came out in the year 2016 via Black Lion Records. Ever since the departure of Jesse in 2017, Jan has been solely sailing the ship of VANHA. He alone took care of all the tasks related to compositions and vocals. The title Melancholia itself is an apt indicator of the subject-matter and the audial-features of this six-track opus; each profusely illustrated with a twister of melody driven mournful sections, led by both deep guttural growls and clean vocals. The music ranges over the unfathomable part of the human beings, where one starts to harbor darkness, melancholy and mystery upon losing a companion or a close one. The songs speak about the fantasy of an eternal rest, a time without worries Tracklist 1 The Road view 2.Storm Of Grief 3.Starless Sleep 4.Your Heart In My Hands 5.Fade Away 6.The Sorrowful

Are you feeling like us and missing the authentic, earthy power of classic heavy rock? If so, THE OSSUARY is exactly your sound! Now we are again surrounded by the wonderful-modern smell of the past, and also the first dust clouds are trickling again - because THE OSSUARY are back! The second album is called "Southern Funeral" and puts another scoop on top: more drive, more melancholy and just more of everything! Lean back, close your eyes and just enjoy!

UNLIMITED HATE

Band:JOYLESS
Album:UNLIMITED HATE
Label:ATMF
Format:CDD
Genre:POST BLACK METAL

Shortly following the successful re-editions of FORGOTTEN WOODS cult albums As The Wolves gather and The Curse of Mankind , it s now time to offer the same treatment to the most controversial and innovative project of the Norwegian combo, JOYLESS. Unlimited Hate has been the starting point of the JOYLESS experience. Originally presented in 1997, part of the album was created for FORGOTTEN WOODS and therefore recalls their typical Norwegian black metal rawness, but filtered through new wave & post-rock elements that made this negative piece of art unique. The cult edition of Unlimited Hate includes 3 extra songs that have to be considered, according to Rune Vedaa s opinion, as the perfect link between the 2 efforts: Fulfillment and Entity s Embraced from the split vs Apokryphus, Swansmile and Room of Velvet Splendour Pt.2 from the Blue in the Face 99 EP. Together with Wisdom & Arrogance these albums have become part of the ATMF cult edition series to emphasize their importance in experimenting different forms of hateful and negative music, showing the potential progression that Black Metal would have reached at a later stage, and making of JOYLESS a precursor of that irreverent attitude and creativity later flaunted by bands like Lifelover and Shining. Enjoy Joyless, if you can. We shall remain unenthused. Rune Vedaa (2018) TRACKLIST 1 Inherent Emptiness 13:06 2 Your Crystal Fragments 7:25 3 Blå Melankoli 6:32 4 (Don't Need) Religion 2:38 5 Overmotets Pris (New Version) 12:10 6 Jomfrulysets Fall 6:46 7 Dimension Of The Blackest Dark 7:14 8 Full Circle (Colin Towns cover) 8:21 9 Fulfillment And Entity's Embraced 4:07 10 Swansmile 3:34 11 Room Of Velvet Splendour Pt. 2 2:50 Total Running Time: 74:43

WISDOM & ARROGANCE

Band:JOYLESS
Album:WISDOM & ARROGANCE
Label:ATMF

Wisdom & Arrogance is the second output of the project, but also the first to show JOYLESS in a comprehensive form, an evolution of the first wild signs that characterized the band s debut, with songs swifting towards more contaminated negative rock territories. The album has been indeed an influence on the scene and was released by the young Kvarforth (Shining) via his personal label Selbstmord Services. Together with "Unlimited Hate", the debut, these albums have become part of the ATMF cult edition series to emphasize their importance in experimenting different forms of hateful and negative music, showing the potential progression that Black Metal would have reached at a later stage, and making of JOYLESS a precursor of that irreverent attitude and creativity later flaunted by bands like Lifelover and Shining. The new edition includes the 3 songs performed by the band on the split with Woods Of Infinity / Joyless - Uppgivet Hjärta / Eidyllion, dated 2005. Enjoy Joyless, if you can. We shall remain unenthused. TRAVELER

Band:TRAVELER
Album:TRAVELER
Label:GATES OF HELL
Format:LP
Genre:HEAVY METAL

Shortly after the early 2018 release of their debut demo, Canada's Traveler had a good problem on its hands. The reception -- from fans and critics -- was so positive that founding member/primary songwriter/guitarist Matt Ries (also of Gatekrashör and Hrom) had no choice but to take what was originally a side-project and turn it into a full-fledged band. In 2019, Traveler is ready to meet the demand with its self-titled first full-length album. Traveler, who are now rounded out by vocalist Jean-Pierre Abboud (also of Gatekeeper), second guitarist Toryin Junior Schadlich, bassist Dave Arnold (ex-Striker) and drummer Chad Vallier, tracked drums at AB Records, guitars at Ries's home studio and vocals at Richhobo Studios. Ries cites his bandmembers musical abilities as one of the driving factors behind the album's multi-faceted nature, from Abboud's potent delivery, to Schadlich's shredding capabilities and the powerful rhythm section of Arnold and Vallier. A complete lineup will also be the realization of another of Ries's goals: To make Traveler a live band. The self-titled album comprises three songs from the band's debut demo, along with five brand-new compositions. Ries worked with Abboud to come up with some of his most demanding vocal parts to date -- ensuring a lively, spirited approach that captures the vocalist's sheer strength and diverse range. Abboud also has the less-than-enviable task of singing songs in E-standard tuning. One of the most rigorous tunings that is often reserved for vocalists with the ability to reach the rafters, Abboud and Ries show they're perfect torchbearers for the time-honored style of classic metal where big, brash choruses, soaring leads and manic drums lead the way. Traveler's let it rip approach pays dividends across the self-titled album. They have gone above and beyond, now heading into terrain where only a few will dare to go. Feel the reign of the Starbreaker!
