Formed a few years ago on Canada’s West Coast amongst the realm of the Ross Bay cemetery (it has even been said that some “artifacts” from the Ross Bay cemetery were used in the recording of MITOCHONDRION’s “Parasignosis”) where legendary Canadian extreme metal maniacs BLASPHEMY were unearthed, MITOCHONDRION made waves within the underground death metal scene with their self-titled now out-of-print “Archaeaeon” debut. Said debut presented a unique take on death metal, where the average song-length would run around the 10- minute mark and where the band’s warped and epic sense of rhythm, along with the guttural-like vocal trade-offs, would create a whirlwind of death metal chaos through a flurry of technical and surreal riffing. It was almost like a diabolical conjuring between the likes of such bands as PORTAL and IMMOLATION, just stretched out to 10 – 15 minute songs.
The band’s follow-up to “Archaeaeon”, entitled “Parasignosis”, takes the sound the band morphed on their debut and takes it even further into the otherworldly depths like no other death metal band in North America could even parallel (on a musical level and especially on a lyrical plane). Where the eleven tracks all seam together to create one massive and epic death metal invocation that will set new standards within the genre, “Parasignosis” is an album in which will showcase and solidify death metal as a true art form.
For fans of legendary bands such as PORTAL and IMMOLATION, along with cult bands such as CONQUEROR and REVENGE, and in general, for fans and people who are into death metal that is designed to push the genre’s boundaries into a new realm of creativity

Recognised as one of the truly great comps of all time, this ‘70s selection of ‘60s hard guitar psych, compiled by the owner of a record shop in Berlin, has often been reissued on CD with the wrong track listing and non-existent liner notes. Originally released on LP, only 77 copies were pressed and apart from a few that were given to friends and family, the remaining records were only sold through the compiler’s shop. Acid Dreams proved that punk rock was not a new thing; kids had adopted the same snotty attitude in the mid to late ‘60s. When released in 1973, Makeup, with its incredible faux-leather imitation attache case outer bag, looked every bit the last word in over-the-top packaging and now originals, complete and in good condition, fetch hundreds of dollars in the collectors market. Howver, despit the lavish packaging, Makeup did little to enhance the groups already considerable reputation and the various band members went their separate ways immediately after the album’s release. Although the album has been described as “inconsistent” there are some definate stand-out tracks and generally Makeup reflects the varied influences that the band drew on throughout their sadly short career.

Shinki Chen & Friends might lack Joey Smith's amphetamine fuelled drumming but is generally bluesier with lots of strange keyboard effects, a fuzzy bass line and a relatively weeping guitar sound.

We go from: thick & crushing multiple static jitter clouds lined with seconds of silence, onto weaving more wiry static ear stringers, through to roaring furnace like chugs, into wiping electro like sears, and through to boiling & bucking walls of all out thick wall making.

7-inch box-set, containing some of the rawest BLOODYMINDED tracks ever captured on tape, or Minidisc, in this case, even fucking exist? And lord knows, there are a few preceding raw BLOODYMINDED live recordings, that much is certain. And why are these four basement bruises bookended by such seemingly high-fidelity studio fuckery? Well, let’s talk about it, for a minute. The band went out on tour in August 2006, in support of our “Magnetism” CD, along with some friends: Demons, Graveyards (sometimes Burning when C. Spencer Yeh would appear), and Lambsbread. Each night, we played four songs off of the then-still-new album. Those would be the middle four cuts that appear here. The strange thing about those “Magnetism” tracks (and boy, did they ultimately prove to be ultramagnetic that night, but who knew?), unlike most core BLOODYMINDED songs, is that they have no discernable lyrics, per se, so that always leaves a lot of room for vocal improvisation… or a bunch of screaming, moaning, shrieking, and whatnot. In this particular case, these four works of art were recorded live on August 8, 2006, at Spooky Action Palace, in Saint Louis, Missouri.

Torturing Nurse, based in China, have been making an imprint on both the Chinese experimental scene and audiences worldwide since 2004 through dozens of limited CDR and cassette releases showcasing their annihilating approach to extreme music. Vertonen, based in the United States, has been creating audio since the 1990s, with his most recent works exploring the darker experiences of the late 60s to mid 1970s in the US and abroad. As Vertonen, Edwards has received 4 grants from the city of Chicago in support of his work, and performs frequently in the US. Torturing Nurse—armed with turntable, voice, and guitar—creates a mobius strip of crashing, clanging, shrieking, and feedback-laden hysteria. Although there are some moments when the entropy subsides, if you think you’re going to catch your breath a bit you’re really only kidding yourself. The Vertonen side presents documentation (electronics on the fritz); deconstruction (a thick drone built on extremely modified “mementos” of the often inevitable failure of ill-planned “social revolution”); and destruction (noise shrapnel peppered with rhythmic bursts; a cleansing bath o f acid and a belt sander).

Red Mass creates dark, driving, and repetitive apocalypse-punk that's unique to Montreal, especially considering that this band features members of now-defunct CPC Gangbangs. Their dissonant and disjointed dark-wave eventually erupts into hypnotic noise. The sound and vocals range from the low preach of Bad Seeds-era Nick Cave to the severe rants of Fear's Lee Ving, all bound and gagged with acidic guitar solos revived from long-dead Eddie Hazel. This 10" starts out curiously open but gets progressively darker as you are sucked deeper into their vacuum of violence.

Drawing on a combined reverence for reverb, heavy tremolo, delay and repetition, Disappears play minimal rock music inspired by everything from Krautrock to The Staples Singers to punk to CCR. Chicago cult label Plus Tapes picked it up and it sold out soon after and now this definitive edition on Rococo Records. Newly mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side Music, pressed on “Rainbow” colored vinyl and limited to 500 copies. This is the way “Live over the Rainbo” was meant to be issued. All three songs are fine examples of minimal synth noise rock with looped drum tracks, simple synth lines, harsh post-industrial guitar playing, with supplemental polyrhythmic junk percussion, kind of what we imagine Anals might sound like while Robo trippin. Two minutes isn't enough to create this absorbing music that starts with frantic surf guitars and a marching drum beat attended by an incredible, angry and self destructive vocalist.The Bands live set is full Farfisa drenched madness, bloody chords, angry vocals that bring the crowd into an obscure and moody sound and their -fucked up attitude- reminds you of bands such as Demon's claws, the Black Lips or the early Cramps.

BE MY ENEMY is a new project from guitarist and producer Phil Barry – one half of legendary British industrial duo CUBANATE. Between 1992-1998 with CUBANATE, Barry released 4 albums, and toured with bands such as FEAR FACTORY, SHEEP ON DRUGS and RAMMSTEIN. CUBANATE’s 1995 album “Cyberia” included the hit song “Oxyacetylene”: which was Single Of The Week in legendary UK rock magazine KERRANG!, and was later used as the theme music of Playstation game “Gran Turismo” (1998). CUBANATE have been cited as a musical influence by THE PRODIGY and various nu metal acts. For BE MY ENEMY's debut album 'This Is The New Wave', Barry has returned to the kind of sound that made CUBANATE so successful: heavy guitar riffs, hard breakbeats and rave synth basslines. The resulting album is 10 tracks of techno-metal every bit as brutal as the finest moments of CUBANATE’s “Cyberia”: with dancefloor-destroying tracks like “Disintegration” clearly in the tradition of “Oxyacetylene”. BE MY ENEMY’s sound evokes the finest moments of other punk-influenced British dance/rock crossover acts like PITCHSHIFTER and THE PRODIGY: given a distinctive British feel by the sneering John Lydon-esque vocals of Barry himself. BE MY ENEMY is part-punk, part-rave, part-metal: but all-original.
