Duncan Patterson, the band mastermind at the time, wanted Eternity to be Anathema's White Album. He wanted the cover artwork to pay homage to the Beatles classic, but Music for Nations considered the concept uncommercial. So the album cover ended up sporting an image of an angel lost in cheesy CGI space. The Svart vinyl reissue has the music spread over two albums for maximum fidelity - the original MFN vinyl had everything stuffed on one platter - and, for the first time ever, the artwork as Patterson originally wanted it to look.

2011 welcomes the studio return of My Brother the Wind with their second album "I Wash My Soul in the Stream of Infinity", a triumph in majestic, psychedelic space rock. Recorded in 4 hours on an Ampex MM 1000 16K by Love Tholin at Drop Out Analogue Studio in Åmål during the cold Swedish winter's night of January 22nd and mixed by the band on January 23rd, the album boasts 6 improvised tracks of exquisite beauty, including a tribute song to the late, great Torbjörn Abelli of Swedish influential prog band Träd, Gräs och Stenar. With the focus less on guitar solos and more on group virtuosity, the instrumentation is altered to create interesting and intricately layered soundscapes, distinguishing it from the first album in more ways than one, and channelling the true spirit and sound of the free and innovative 70's, when the soul of experimentation was king and warmth of sound his queen. Starting with the pulsating, driving "Fire! Fire!" and ending with the meanderingly wistful title track, this album offers something for everyone, incorporating every mood and managing to bridge the new and exciting with the comforting familiarity of the past without a hint of cliché, and is already being hailed by leading ressive/psychedelic rock sites as one of the most important releases of 2011.

Following the cult of Swedish underground band, NOCTUM released their debut album on a small DIY US label in 2010. During the time the band built up a stronger reputation in Europe, but the European edition was missing. High Roller put out limited vinyl editions, but still no CD edition. So Transubstans picked up the band for the debut album, and will now release this CD edition including both the "The Seance" and "The Fiddler" on one cd release.

Like nowadays Slits, Pop Group or Public Image Ltd., Funk Police steal black rhythms from an hypothetical rainforest and hurl them into their concrete jungle, while James Brown and James Chance stand there nodding. Throbbing bass, sharp upbeat guitars and schizoid vocals over the haunting tribal drums.

Panopticon is the brainchild of one Austin Lundr, and has garnered considerable attention and critical acclaim for the project’s raw, atmospheric blend of black metal, crust, post-rock, and Appalachian folk. Aquarius Records have lauded them as “crusty weirdo mathy abstruse black metal, a buzzing blasting pounding onslaught of Pagan fury, rife with samples and all manner of strange sonic filigree,” and their description isn’t far off. Whereas Panopticon’s earlier full-length effort On the Subject of Mortality was an internal mediation on death, and Panopticon’s 2nd album Collapse anticipated the decline of government infrastructure, Social Disservices lashes out against a broken social services infrastructure that imprisons a silent minority. Social Disservices continues the blackened crust of Panopticon’s previous effort but with a bit more darkness this time.

Fo(ur) Burials is a lost classic of extreme doom, and has now finally, reverently been brought back into circulation by The Flenser. Featuring monolithic emissions from Mournful Congregation, Loss, Orthodox, and Otesanek, this fourtrack album reeks of desolation, the gnashing of teeth and virulent decay. “Heavy” does not begin to do these songs justice; the riffs stumble and crawl through an acid bath of feedback and distortion, dragging themselves along on broken knees. Funereal horde Mournful Congregation hail from Australia, and recently released a much-hailed compilation album via 20 Buck Spin, as well as news of a brand-new full-length and virgin US tour. With “Despond” (Profound Lore), Nashville’s Loss released one of the most painfully beautiful and critically-acclaimed albums of 2010, entombing listeners with a richly melodic, flowing shroud of depression. Orthodox’s ultra-minimal, droning, ambient take on the traditional rites of doom bleeds forth from Spain and belies the myth that sun breeds contentment. Otesanek, now-defunct and much-missed, crawled out of the filth and desperation of Philadelphia; their sludgy, crusty, unbearably brutal sound remains unmatched today.
