In 1992 Mudhoney left Sub-Pop and signed with Warner Brothers’ subsidiary Reprise Records. Having already worked on a batch of songs, we set out to demo what we had. My buddy from high school, Rolf Bertieg, and his friend Jim Collier had set up a studio in the basement of Jim’s house in the Wedgwood neighborhood of Seattle, where, armed with a few tunes and several cases of beer we made these recordings. The songs on this record would eventually be re-recorded and released on our album Piece Of Cake, except “Knock It On The Head” which has remained unreleased until now. (Maybe there’s a reason for that, but I’ll leave it up to the listener to make that judgment.) The energy and the vibe of these recordings reflect how we wish the final Piece Of Cake would have sounded. Hope you enjoy this archaeological dig through our past.

GODTHRYMM was formed in 2017 by vocalist/guitarist Hamish Glencross (ex-My Dying Bride/Vallenfyre/Solstice) and sees the respected UK metal luminary return to his doom metal roots, creating the music he was known to help forge with Solstice (on the legendary “New Dark Age” album) and especially with the heralded My Dying Bride from the 2000 – 2014 time period. It includes their two full-lengths, 1994 s Hymns to the Stone and 1997 s Tumuli Shroomaroom, both with new artwork by Jimbob Isaac (also of Taint and Hark) , as well as a third disc of off-album tracks, some of which were previously collected on 2007 s Bong On Live Long! compilation and some which were not, including a yet-unheard Doom cover, and so on. Bringing these offerings together is something noteworthy in itself the band s influence over UK heavy rock was and is formidable, and they were genuinely ahead of their time when it came to using repetition and jammy vibes as a means to hone a heavy psychedelic feel while retaining a metallic energy beneath but crucially, Chronicles of Wode gives all of these Acrimony tracks a much-needed remastering, and they ve never sounded so vibrant. That s particularly true of Tumuli Shroomaroom, but while Hymns to the Stone is more dated in terms of its basic production, that s more of a fact of how the record was originally made, and it seems no less integral to preserve that than it does to give Acrimony s catalog the detailing it has long since earned.

First album by Acrimony, first time ever on vinyl Remixed and mastered in 2019 from original studio files by James Plotkin New artwork from JimBob Isaac (Taint/Hark) Leaves of Mellow Grace, the opener of Hymns to the Stone, which rolls out its nod like a clarion, finding Acrimony the five-piece of vocalist Dorian Walters, guitarists Stu O Hara and Lee Davies, bassist Paul Bidmead and drummer Darren Ivey immediately putting the groove first in a way that few acts at the time had understood how to do. Their influences were varied, from 70s rock to trance techno, but their riffs were undeniably heavy, with lyrics exploring the isolation of their hometown and the same kind of disaffection that once launched Black Sabbath to the outer reaches of doom from a blues rock beginning. Acrimony started out more as death metal or at least death-doom, but Hymns to the Stone was a point of discovery for them in terms of claiming their identity, and whether it s the nodding pub-homage The Inn or the myth-creation they engaged with Urabalaboom, the sonic drawl and spacey push of Spaced Cat #6 or the glorious noise-wash jam of Whatever ahead of brash closer Cosmic AWOL, Hymns to the Stone is a record that has been persistently undervalued, not just for what it set in motion in terms of Acrimony s all-too-short tenure as a band, but on the sheer merits of its material.

Remixed and mastered in 2019 from original studio files by James Plotkin New artwork from JimBob Isaac (Taint/Hark) Clocking in at a whopping 65 minutes prime CD era in 1997 and originally released through Peaceville Records, Tumuli Shroomaroom is a legitimate heavy rock classic. Its production was clearer, its purpose was clearer and it took the blow-the-doors-down promise shown throughout first album Hymns to the Stone and brought it to a point of full realization throughout extended pieces like Motherslug (The Mother of All Slugs), Heavy Feather and Firedance, not to mention the nine-minute opener, Hymns to the Stone, a title-track for the release before. Go figure. By 97, Acrimony s sense of world-creation was becoming clearer, and their songs not all of them, but definitely some had started telling a story beyond the riffs and nods. Of course, Tumuli Shroomaroom had and still has plenty of that too in Million Year Summer, Vy, Find the Path and The Bud Song the arguable meat of the album in its post-opener beginning and the middle of the nine-song tracklist but even amid The Bud Song s ultra-stoner janga-janga shuffle there s psychedelic flourish building on that shown at the outset of the song, and Acrimony s adventurous sensibility never really dissipates. It s just presented in dynamic fashion, and they use it to various ends throughout.

Vinyl LP pressing. Vinyl LP pressing. What have we here? At first glance, it seems like the missing volume from our Groove Club series, which it so easily could have been! This is stunning collection - which took more than fifteen years to put together - of hot, rare tracks that combine cumbia with psychedelic rock. Starting in the late 1960's, there was a boom of tropical music in Peru, both in Lima and the provinces. Cumbia Peruana merged this tropical sound with that of psychedelic rock. Aspects of cumbia were mixed with electric (often fuzz) guitar, played over Andean and jungle rhythms-this combination provoked an explosion of original music. An instrument to lead the way, usually from the introduction of the song; over this, hypnotic layers of keyboards and guitar with fuzz and wah-wah; add simple bass-lines; and to top it off, syncopated rhythms from bongos, congas, huiros, cymbals, timbales, often played at breakneck speed. In the end, it's like a sonic cousin to Nigerian music: these musicians liked guitar, they had a fondness for echo, and they loved a murky high-octane jam. Fierce, funky and full of flavor!

“It’s about small things having bigger dimensions than they need, about details and how they develop,” says Tuulikki Bartosik of Tempest In A Teapot, her new album’s title track. “In today’s global world, details tend to disappear but sometimes the small things can grow into big things although they do not need to do that.” Tempest In A Teapot is the Estonian accordion stylist and musical experimenter’s second solo album, the follow-up to 2016’s internationally acclaimed Storied Sounds. Her new album is, she continues, a “story about me, my roots and where I find myself – the longing for nature and friends, how I work as an individual in nature, the desire to find a place in the world and also in the musical world. I hope it helps people think about their own lives, to find themselves in it.” The journey through Tempest In A Teapot begins with the heart-rending “Crying Meadows” (“Nutvad Niidud” in Estonian), a meditative instrumental evocation of Rõuge (pronounced “roo-ga”), the South Estonia rural settlement where her family are rooted: the interwoven field recordings made there help assert her roots. It continues with the reflective “In Luce Amor” (meaning either “in light there is love” or “in love there is light”), composed by Tuulikki as an emotional reaction to being unable to attend a wedding.

In the summer of 2019, the Siberian forests stood in flames. An area the size of Greece was on fire. The city of Krasnoyarsk was particularly affected. The inhabitants suffered from shortness of breath because of the smoke. It will take about 100 years for the forests to recover. Vedan Kolod returned to this apocalyptic landscape to record their eighth album "Wild Games". The Siberian folk trio is originally from Krasnoyarsk, but has spent the past seven years in Moscow and participated in various international art projects. "We were very sad and depressed this summer because a large part of the Siberian forests was on fire. We recorded the album while our hometown was covered in smoke. For me the album is an outcry for Mother Nature," says singer and percussionist Daryana Antipova. "Wild Games" is an album that is characterized by the love of the band members for the harsh Siberian nature and its wild animal world. The animals and their "endless play with death" were the main inspiration for the compositions, says singer and multi-instrumentalist Valery Naryshkin.

Furthermore, to lend a human element to this futuristic album, Robin Stone of Norse has taken over the drumming duties, with Alexandre Ribeiro of Grog fulfilling the bass responsibilities, while Max Tomé does the rest. The result is a breathtaking and refreshingly diverse album showcasing the myriad aspects of this bold and innovative death metal band without compromising on their aggressive, apocalyptic sound.

VIOGRESSION (US) founded in 1988 are considered to be one of the pioneering bands of the Death metal genre. The style was carried out in the spirit of bands like OBITUARY, AUTOPSY and ASPHYX. The debut studio album “Expound and Exhort” was released in 1991 by Tombstone Records (Darklin Reach, Tortoise Corpse, Dementia, Silent Scream...) actually considered as a classic and one of the great early 90s death metal albums In 1994 the band broke up. In 2014, the band resurrected with new guitarist Bill Mears (ACCIDENTAL SUICIDE) in line-up. In the same year, the band self-produced the EP “A Pure Formality” with soloist guests James Murphy (ex-DEATH, ex-OBITUARY, ex-TESTAMENT, ex-CANCER, ex-KONKHRA) and singer and guitarist Paul Masvidal (ex-DEATH , CYNIC) 4 new mid-tempo tracks of obscure and hypnotic Death metal. Vocalist Brian DeNeffe has done his best work to date, his sickening voice is not human but the sonic representation of rot and decay. The superb guitars riffs & solos are of extreme beauty and the bass and drums are technically perfect.

Infernal Angels was born in August 2002. After a first demo, "Absum Lucem", released in 2002, a new demo, “Vigilia Secunda” and an EP “Dominus Silentii”, the first full-length, "Shining Evil Light", was released in 2006. Some lineup changes happened and in 2009 the second album, "Midwinter Blood", was released by My Kingdom Music. In 2014 they recorded “Pestilentia”. Infernal Angels played at important gigs in Italy. After 2 year, they started to record the new album “Ars Goetia” that sign a return under My Kingdom Music wings. The album released on January 20th, 2017 receives great responses. The following months are characterized by the presence of the band in various festivals and playing numerous concerts in Italy and abroad. In 2019 they entered the studio again to complete their most obscure, complex and extreme album so far. It is titled "Devourer Of God From The Void" and it will be released again via My Kingdom Music on February 28th, 2020.

Neurosphere forms in 2003.
