Still Got That Hunger

Band:ZOMBIES, THE
Album:Still Got That Hunger
Label:PLANE GROOVY
Format:Vinyl LP
Genre:Psych/Garage Reissues

The Zombies made their name in the 1960s with hits like ‘She’s Not There,’ ‘Time of the Season’ and ‘Tell Her No’ and
the legendarily majestic Odessey And Oracle LP.The band’s serene, sublime sound combines the subtle keyboard skills
of Rod Argent with the beautiful vocals of Colin Blunstone.
The follow-up to 2011’s Breathe Out, Breathe In, STILL GOT THAT HUNGER contains many brand new songs written
by Rod Argent, plus ‘Never Get Over You’ by Colin Blunstone, and a new version of their 1965 single ‘I Want You Back
Again’.The album was recorded at State of the Ark Studios in London with producer Chris Potter (The Verve, The
Rolling Stones "Steel Wheels”).

Mojo Magazine: “Odessey And Oracle’s classic album status is undeniable and since The Zombies reformed in 2004,
it’s been the touchstone for their new material. Their sixth album, with a sleeve design by Terry Quirk, the artist behind
Odessey’s cover, is no exception – tracks And We Were Young Again, Chasing The Past and Maybe Tomorrow are
rooted in their ’60s Brit-psych sound.”

Limited to 500 copies, 140g virgin vinyl, with a lyric insert.

Stunning new single from Robert Reed, ably supported by Les Penning and Tom Newman, both veterans of the early Mike

Intentionally reminiscent of the early Mike Oldfield releases such as Portsmouth and In Dulce Jubilo – both of which

Bestial Hymns Of Perversion

Band:OF FEATHER AND BONE
Album:Bestial Hymns Of Perversion
Label:Profound Lore
Format:cd
Genre:Death Metal

Emerging from their Rocky Mountain crypts, OF FEATHER AND BONE spread their virulent strain of cryptic death metal on Bestial Hymns of Perversion, due March 9, 2018 on Profound Lore Records. Bassist/vocalist AS and Guitarist/vocalist DG herald the endtimes with a dual guttural onslaught atop an everflowing stream of grime-caked riffs and PW’s whirlwind of blasts and d-beats. State of the State

Band:PILLOW QUEENS
Album:State of the State
Label:SPECIALIST SUBJECT
Format:Vinyl LP
Genre:Alt Rock

New 12” EP from queer, all-girl Irish indie rock group Pillow Queens!

‘State of The State’ is the product of Pillow Queens’ first year being a band. Their intense year of gigging, touring, and really
getting to know each other’s abilities fed into this recording, in contrast to the creation of their delightful debut ‘Calm Girls’ EP,
which was recorded just after the band got together.
Producer Peter Ashmore tapped into the wide-reaching references PQ threw at him, which included the likes of Hop Along, Yuck, Weezer, Manchester Orchestra and the Pixies, in order to attain a timeless feel befitting of the beautifully crafted songs. Rachel Lyons (drums/vocals) observes that the EP draws “from all our teenage musical influences which have been chewed up and poured out, PQ style.” The resulting creation is something special and unmistakeably “Pillow Queens”.

Post

Band:JEFF ROSENSTOCK
Album:Post
Label:SPECIALIST SUBJECT
Format:cd
Genre:Punk / Hardcore

Surprise! A new Jeff Rosenstock record for 2018! On New Year’s Day 2018 Jeff Rosenstock released his new album POST- as a donation download via his own label Quote Unquote Records. Available physically on LP & CD via Specialist Subject Records (Europe) & Polyvinyl (Rest of World) 23rd March 2018.

Written in the days after the 2017 Presidential inauguration, POST-'s lyrics get (really) heavy but the melodies are so catchy and the builds are so big and bright that the end result is more of a rallying cry than a surrender. The album was recorded in a oneweek, 86-hour marathon recording session with Jack Shirley (Joyce Manor, Deafheaven) at the Atomic Garden in East Palo Alto, CA. "The four of us stood in a room without headphones on and just played the songs live to tape, and after that we had some friends (Dan Potthast, Laura Stevenson, Chris Farren, PUP) fill out some of the sound," So, if the record feels even more unifying than usual, like a party that turns into a sleepover that turns into egg-n-cheese sandwiches on the beach that turns into a protest march that unites a gang of buddies for eternity, well, maybe that's why.

"the sound of a cautiously optimistic new year." – 8.2 Pitchfork

50th Erection I - Collected Works 1967-1970

Band:SPERM
Album:50th Erection I - Collected Works 1967-1970
Label:SVART
Format:cd
Genre:Electronic/Experimental

Finnish ultra-radical and scandalous performance group/proto-noise band.

1967 saw the birth of the notorious Helsinki ensemble The Sperm, led by Mattijuhani Koponen and Pekka Airaksinen and with such members as J.O. Mallander and Markus Heikkerö. Airaksinen had previously written some experimental pieces with the equipment provided and built by Erkki Kurenniemi for The University of Helsinki Electronic Music Studio (where also composers Henrik Otto Donner and Erkki Salmenhaara had been working).

The Sperm's performances concentrated, alongside music, on breaking sexual taboos, and Mattijuhani Koponen eventually had to spend some time at a correctional facility (the fuss was all about Koponen's alleged public copulation with an anonymous woman while lying on a grand piano at a performance), since this sort of avantgardism seemed to be too much for the establishment of time. 2cd Set.
