Bay Area native, Ryan Karazija, has found inspiration in Reykjavik, Iceland. It’s this inspiration that epitomizes the sound of Low Roar, which Pigeons & Planes describes as "wonderfully evocative music" and Acid Stag hails as the "Icelandic version of Grizzly Bear". After moving to the small nordic community in 2010, Karazija wrote and recorded Low Roar's debut, self-titled album with the help of Grammy winning producer/mixer Andrew Scheps (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Adele). After releasing the album in November 2011, Karazija recruited drummer Logi Guðmundsson and the two toured Germany, Poland, Lithuania and a myriad of other European countries, eventually joining the Iceland Airwaves and ATP festival lineups, as well as supporting indie favorite Soko. Now with Leifur Björnsson on keys, Low Roar is releasing their second album, 0, on July 8, 2014 which features Icelandic darlings Amiina on strings and is coproduced by Andrew Scheps and Mike Lindsay (Tuung).

Identifying as “cyborg prog” and comparable to forebears Goblin, Heldon and Zombi, Zoltan have succeeded in making a fictional soundtrack for an uncertain age. Inspired by the dystopian sci-fi writers Yevgeny Zamyatin and J.G. Ballard, the album creates a foreboding atmosphere, intimating a near-future urban hell where paranoia and violence are never far away. Pulsating sequencers, eerie analog synths and a pounding rhythm section drive the music into realms of retro-futurist dread, interspersed with brooding interludes that take a pause for reflection without letting up on the intensity for a minute. The album climaxes with the 20 minute song-suite “The Integral”, based on Zamyatin’s prescient 1920s novel We, journeying through a realm of ominous arpeggios, jazz-inflected drumming and creeping synth lines before blasting into inner space. Since 2012’s Cineploit debut “First Stage Zoltan” the band have been honing their reputation as a devastating live act, with appearances including Supersonic 2012 and Dresden’s Cinestrange Film Festival 2013. At the same time they have also been developing a parallel life as interpreters of film-scores on their non full-length releases, to wild acclaim from the international horror cognoscenti. Adaptations of the themes to Brit biker-horror classic “Psychomania” (a 12” release on Cineploit Records in 2012) and the aforementioned 12” on Rise Above show a versatility to Zoltan that will surely see them reap the acclaim they so richly deserve.

One-such evening Jason Feathers (a.k.a. Creflo), a red-chested god-bassed Southern rapper in a fancy white suit, found himself in an after-bar-impromptu-musical-round-up. There, he tangled with a group of clad cronies that consisted of Toothpick, a drummer-hype-piano-man all in one, a heavily-seasoned guitar-crooning lost-cowboy that went by Ephasis, and ________, who played "bass" amongst sequenced plugs and wires. De Oro is the record of this event.
Jason Feathers’ De Oro is the long-awaited collaboration between BON IVER;s Justin Vernon and indie rapper Astronautalis. Both have made careers out of artful genre defiance and passionate, sometimes heartrending lyrics. AEONSGATE is the brainchild of Jondix (guitar player and founder of Great Coven, EIght Hands for Kali and Ätman- Acron). This time he is surrounded by amazing musicians. Mats Leven (Krux, Malmsteen, Therion, Candlemass,...) is the singer and his agonic and beautiful voice makes the song as sad and dark as you can get. The project, originally formed as LOOSIN ’O’ FREQUENCIES (and released a mini CD produced by doom guru Paul Chain) was born from Alessandro ”Drughito” Santori and Roberto Malerba. In 2006 they decided to turn it into an instrumental band and call it L'IRA DEL BACCANO, melting doom influences as Black Sabbath with the 60’, 70’s psychedelia of Pink Floyd and Hawkwind, the heavy-prog vibes of bands like Rush, as well as the performing freedom and attitude of jam bands such as Grateful Dead. The result… long tracks, in constant evolution and movement on every concert. In summer '08 the band released it's first album – “Si non sedes is…Live”, 56 minutes of live performance in concert. They decided to let the album be available as a free download from their official site and very soon many reviews started to appear on the web. During the following two years they played many gigs in Italy, having the opportunity to share stages with bands like Nebula, Witchcraft, Doomraiser, Vibravoid and La Ira de Dios. In the spring of 2010 the band released a split CD with different version of songs already released on the first album, once again to show their way of conceiving music in "never ending movement". In the fall of 2013 L'IRA DEL BACCANO recorded the second album, no longer on stage as with the first album, but this time in a studio.....LTD DOUBLE VINYL LP.

Formed in the late ‘90s in the wasteland desert of Santa Fe, New Mexico by Aaron Turner (ISIS, MAMIFFER) and drummer Santos Montano, OLD MAN GLOOM was conceived as sonic experiment of sorts which would inevitably becoming something of grandeur. Their “Meditations In B” debut was just a glimpse into the noiser and more experimental side within Turner’s musical repertoire, at the time where he would be able to explore his musical range a bit beyond what he was doing with Isis at the time (which was a time even before Isis really took off). Shortly after Nate Newton of CONVERGE and Caleb Scofield of CAVE IN would join this unique sonic behemoth (with Luke Scarola on electronics), and Kurt Ballou of Converge would end up serving as the band’s longtime control desk engineering commander. The results of this ended up being the “Seminar I” and “Seminar II” epochs that would set a new precedent and standard in experimental hardcore music. The 2004 follow-up album “Christmas” was another milestone in the genre, OLD MAN GLOOM way ahead of their time would become defined as one of the most influential bands in the genre of post-hardcore, alongside the band members’ main musical outlets who were obviously already heavyweights in the genre respectively.
An extended period of inactivity for eight or so years would soon commence with the band members focusing on their main bands at the time. That is until Turner (who by now had put Isis to rest), Montano, Newton, and Scofield secretly conspired OLD MAN GLOOM’s resurrection unbeknownst to pretty much everyone where in 2012 out of nowhere and almost unannounced they released their “NO” album to an unsuspecting audience. The band would go on to do a series of sold out live shows and then immediately begin writing and creating their massive follow-up to “NO”. This proving that OLD MAN GLOOM’s “reunion” wasn’t just a one-off thing.
Now in conspiracy with Profound Lore Records, OLD MAN GLOOM are prepared to release their new album entitled “The Ape Of God”. It will serve its purpose as some of the heaviest and mightiest material the band have ever conjured and will stand as a highlight and one of the best works within the OLD MAN GLOOM repertoire, the band now more relevant than ever before. Despite both artists having extensive successful solo careers stretching back to the mid-seventies both Jon Anderson and Rick Wakeman will probably forever be associated with the classic line-up of British rock band Yes . Throughout the seventies and for various periods in the nineties and beyond both members enjoyed fruitful working relationship as part of Yes.
The duo, however, have worked together outside of Yes, performing in the UK in 2006 both classics from the Yes catalogue and also selected items from the pair's individual solo catalogue. In 2010 it was announced that Jon Anderson and Rick Wakeman were to tour together once more with the tour taking place at the end of the year. The Living Tree is the duo’s debut studio release and features nine tracks of original material, which will be welcomed by the massive and devoted fan base still commanded by these two artists who to many represent the true spirit of Yes .Titles include The Living Tree (Parts1&2), Morning Star, Anyway and Always, Forever and Just One Man. The duo have been featured recently in the popular Classic Rock Prog magazine and are due to tour the UK in October and November, ensuring high interest both in the press and amongst the fan base. ERIC BURDON - This disc in the series of Beat Beat Beat releases features just one band: Eric Burdon and The New Animals. Eric Burdon had achieved massive worldwide success with the original Animals in 1964. By 1967 the original band had split and Eric, influenced by the new sounds coming out of America’s West Coast, formed the New Animals, which were more psychedelically inclined. The band performs five tracks including a cover of the song Morning Dew made famous by Tim Rose. Other songs include Trumpets Blow See See Rider and a harking back to the style of the older Animals with the John D Loudermilk song Tobacco Road and Road Runner. Rarely seen before this footage is not only historical but an amazing document of the times.

Spirits Burning is a musical collective overseen by American composer/producer Don Falcone. Cirque Surreal - Originally released in 1995 this album is considered a true treasure in Rick Wakeman’s vast catalogue and has been unavailable for some time. The music on this album is considered by many including Rick Wakeman to be some of the best he has ever written and recorded. The album’s musical director is also a well known name to many Rick Wakeman fans Rick’s son Adam Wakeman. The music contained on Cirque Surreal was actually performed live in Brighton for the circus for a week complete with band. Since then however the album has become a hard to find artefact. The album also features Rick’s long time drummer Tony Fernandez and Fraser Thorneycroft- Smith on guitar and on some of the tracks Chrissie Hammond on vocals. As the album has been unavailable for some time this re issue will be warmly received by the large and dedicated Rick Wakeman fan base.
Out of the Blue - Out Of The Blue was recorded live in Argentina in April 2001 and features a live performance of the English Rock Ensemble. The concert features many of the songs that have become favourites with Rick’s fan base over the last thirty plus years including an edited version of Journey To The Centre Of The Earth alongside Catherine Parr and even a couple of Yes Tracks in Starship Trooper and Wurm.

From the ashes of NWOBHM behemoth ANGEL WITCH rose one of the movement’s truly legendary bands. TYTAN was formed in 1982 following the split of the classic ANGEL WITCH line-up. Guitarist and vocalist Kevin Heybourne went into a period of soul searching before reforming the band with a new rhythm section. Bassist Kevin ‘Skids’ Riddles and drummer Dave Dufort wasted no time at all in putting together their new outfit, along with Birmingham based vocalist Kal Swan (later of LA based acts Lion and Bad Moon Rising) and guitarist Steve Gibbs.
By the time ‘Rough Justice’, the band’s only album release, finally surfaced in 1985, TYTAN had already split up. What they left behind, however, is a towering monument to what could have been. Part NWOBHM monster, part melodic rock crowd pleaser, the album is full of great songs and big riffs. Finally available on CD, this is a genuine must have for fans of 80’s metal and hard rock in general.

On the road, AMERICAN HERITAGE has toured and performed alongside the likes of Baroness, Black Cobra, Floor, Mastodon, Pelican, Burnt By The Sun, Misery Index, Coliseum, Dysrhythmia, Saviours, Origin and countless others. AMERICAN HERITAGE raided SOMA Studios with producer Sanford Parker, with additional recording by Che Arthur and Mike Lust, to record their fourth full-length, Prolapse. Once the caustic madness of the bruising album was recorded, Parker mixed the final product, the thirty-three minute album displaying some of the band’s most diverse material to date.

It is with great honour that we present new material from one of Russia’s most enigmatic act, PHURPA. Lead by Alexey Tegin since 2003, PHURPA has gained wide recognition and praise for their truly unique performances and eerie rendering of the ritual chants of the pre-Buddhist BON tradition of Tibet. Their musical ensemble is solely based around ritual Tibetan instruments. The main traditional feature of such an ensemble is the mantra chanting, a unique overtone chanting called "rgyudskad", or the Tantric voice, which is based on the principle of the singer's transmogrification during the so-called "chanting meditation". PHURPA’s rendering of this special use of the most primordial of instruments, the voice, is quite simply mesmerizing. Deep low tones and overtones, all tuned to a perfect pitch, carry one to unchartered realms. These chants are accentuated by the clattering of traditional drums, bells, gongs and various horns. Powerful, massive, penetrating and definitely unique are what PHURPA’s organic aural meditations could be described as. August 2013: As Luc Hess and Jona Nido are touring Mexico with their former band THE OCEAN COLLECTIVE, producer Ricardo Zuniga invites them to DBRICK PRODUCTIONS studio in Mexico City. In two days, the two partners write and record a couple of songs for their side-project COILGUNS. Used to collaborate with different artists and bands - and because releasing records with friends always is a lot of fun – they decide to release these tracks on a split record. They approach their countrymen in ABRAHAM to have them add some beard and one dark sounding masterpiece. Considering the level of intimacy gained through several nights of debauchery previously spent together, ABRAHAM immediately accept.

Guest musicians Atsuchi Sano (Birushanah), Yailen Munoz (Ensorcelor), Eric Quach (Thisquietarmy), Jeanne Peluard (The Sparteens) and Robert MacManus (ex Grey Daturas / ex Monarch) make appearances. Thirty Four minutes of drone and eerie moans building to lurching drums and strings accented by harsh screams ending with haunting vocals & drones. A 3 minute Lustmordian interlude punctuated with dire howls. Funeral dirge builds adding juxtapositional angelic tones. Ugly drone, dark whispers, screeches erratic yells and then slowly ends as it begun!
