Taint have continued to forge their unique and enigmatic brand of heavy rock, since their 1994 inception in South Wales. Arms and Sleepers are a duo of comprised of Max Lewis (Boston, MA) and Mirza Ramic (Portland, ME). Formed in 2006, they have produced multiple albums, EPs and hand-made releases, most notably the well-received Black Paris 86 (Expect Candy, 2008). Following an intense touring schedule in 2008 and 2009 that included appearances in the UK, Europe, and North America and saw the band opening for the likes of Asobi Seksu, The Books, Her Space Holiday, Cass McCombs, Lymbyc Systym, This Will Destroy You and Caspian, Max and Mirza took a break to focus on a new proper full-length in the summer of 2009. Matador finds the duo expanding on their sound, reaching for a new and fresh direction. It opens doors to new fans who may be unfamiliar with Vasoli’s previous work while allowing longtime fans a chance to watch one of their favorite musicians grow and change into a more complicated, talented artist. But in the end, the most important thing this record reveals, is Person L’s passion for the music they make.

Few great indie rock bands are built without an enthralling story to boot. The Encierro (acronym N*C*R*O), a five piece from Stirling, Scotland are no exception. Since their impressive start in 2003 where they excelled and won the esteemed Stella Artois Battle of the Bands (astonishingly within four weeks of forming, a feat not at the grasp of many) they have crafted themselves an extraordinary tale of talented music, rapid success and sold out shows. Now, The Encierro are ready to unveil their superb first official mini EP Be Yourself, a single likely to further catapult the group.
The Encierro’s new EP really is as accomplished a debut single as a band is likely to put out, with a level of musical maturity that really shines through. The band’s progress from past tracks such as ‘The Girls Only Go Where The Coke Is’ and ‘Broken Record’ may be attributable to settling on a line up that truly works for them, and the result is an EP that really excels. The quality of the two B-sides accompanying Be Yourself are a joy to behold in an age where the radio edit remix has taken over from the days where bands showcased unreleased material on their singles. Here The Encierro pull out all the stops. The production on the title track Be yourself is homely, merging the electric and acoustic sides of the song seamlessly. The song drifts dreamily through the chorus, with the acoustic structure complimenting Souey’s vocals perfectly leading to a strong riff driven chorus. As it develops, the track builds to a potent, percussion filled, slick guitar licked ending. An almost R.E.M. style track in its beauty and composition, with slightly more of a Britpop undertone. There is also an unnerving quality about both the B-sides on this single, quality not usually seen on a debut EP. The first being a Manic Street Preacher-esque style rock track titled Esconde Mi Mente. An instantly catchy tune that coupled with the subtle maracas and the exquisite jangly flamenco guitar riff, gives this powerful song an intriguing Spanish twist. The second track is an equally well written if altogether more direct style indie track. Things Get Better! has a glorious electric guitar riff reminiscent of groups like The Kooks or The View. The strained vocals of Souey give the track a rough quality rarely heard since The Strokes and the tight percussion of John Liddell gives the song an upbeat air that has you moving uncontrollab

Nobody’s sure if the muscians on this recording ever performed as a group or whether Ceremony was simply a studio super project. Certainly guitarist Kimio Mizutani had already enjoyed a certain amount of crticial exposure following stints with Love Live Life + One and Masahiko Satoh’s Sound Brakers and it is Satoh’s jazzy fuzz guitar licks that help to lift this album to a higher level. Unfortunately this was the ensemble’s only album, but the concept work, Ceremony – Buddha Meets Rock, is an absolute classic. As the title suggests, this 1971 recording was an attempt to fuse Buddhist-influenced spiritual vibe into an innovative oriental form form of hypnotic psychedelic prog rock. . All in all a rather weird record but the sound is mindblowing – experimental and trippy, but never too free or over the top, and at times a more traditional Japanese style of music lurks in the background. Prior to metamorphosing into Far East Family Band, Far Out released this sole, spacey, guitar-drenched psychedelic prog album in 1971. Although the Floyd influences are highly apparent, the band produces an original sound which defines its own unique identity rather than being a reflection of the British and American bands that were dominating the genre. Although there isw a keyboard-dominated opening, synthesisers are relegated to a supporting role, and thire sparse presence is restricted to occasional sound effects. The psychedelic ambiance comes largely from the guitars, electric sitars and intelligent percussion. In 1995 when drummer, Shawn Johnson and Guitarist Ryan Buck decided that they’d rule the world with a unique brand of metal seldom or not seen at that time. Their armament? A band called Inspiteofyou. Needless to say that the whole world domination bit did not come to fruition exactly (nor, in retrospect would they have wanted it to – too much maintenance; leaving little or no time to rock) and there have been many anomalous, shocking, thrilling and lamentable moments that have brought these two friends to the year 2007. With the inevitable coming of some auspicious personnel changes, in mid-2007 the band took a rare opportunity to recharge, refresh and continue to hone in on what makes them unique both musically and visually and welcomed new “blood” (pun intended) to the fold. With the addition of the ultra-charismatic Tim Dumpiere on guitar and the inspired madness of Tony Greinke (ex-Down Lo, Concussion) on lead vocals joining the existing ranks of Shawn Johnson on drums, Ryan Buck supplying guitar/vocals and Wolf (ex-Withdrawal, Deacon, Inspiteofyou) on bass, BLOODSTREAM PARADE have been successfully creating new material inspired by the fervor of their impetuous youth. The record received an amazing feedback and allowed the band to sign a contract for the worldwide distribution of the next two albums. While working on the new album the band almost lost all of its components and joined forces with Claudio and got in contact with Speed from Soilwork to have him as a guest on the new record. The year 2004 finally saw the release of the long anticipated second studio album entitled “Fragments Of D-Generation”: no more progressive atmospheres, but a faster and more energetic musical vibe with a huge injection of melody and a more twisted and aggressive vocal/lyrical approach. Being a worldwide success the record helped the band to enlarge their fan base and granted them their own place in the crowded melodic extreme metal scene. The year after Mirco left the band, but new songs were already coming out Ettore’s hat and the third record (“Mind Tricks” - 2006) showed that the renewed creative identity built by Ettore and Claudio was stronger than ever and far from being exhausted: a darker and heavier sound featuring multiple vocal layers by both Claudio and Ettore (with Speed collaborating again as a guest on some parts of the new songs) made this record their best release so far. And finally year 2009: Ettore and Claudio are once again working together to properly complete the songs that will be featured on the fourth Disarmonia Mundi record entitled “The Isolation Game”. Before the unleashing of the new full-length album a re-issue of the first album “Nebularium” sees the light via Coroner Records featuring a brand new artwork and an additional cd of previously unreleased tracks entitled “The Restless Memoirs”. Winter 2009: finally “The Isolation Game” is unleashed worldwide. The album sounds like the heaviest thing the band has recorded up to date: a perfect combination of brutal aggression, classical guitar melodies, extreme vocals and catchy choruses. Some of the songs also feature guest appearances by Björn “Speed” Strid (Soilwork) on vocals and Olof Mörck (Nightrage) on solos.

In 2003 Pete Brough, one of the founder-members of German band TWELVE DRUMMERS DRUMMING, and Ralf Aussem, guitarist from the original 12DD cast and mastermind behind the hugely successful band SUN, joined forces with vocalist Carlo van Putten (THE CONVENT) and collectively gave life to DEAD GUITARS. In 2007 they were joined by Patrick Schmitz – Drums and Sven-Olaf Dirks – Bass Guitar, a down-to-earth rhythm section providing a solid foundation within the Dead Guitars family. After the success of their 2007 debut Airplanes and their extensive European tour with THE MISSION in 2008 the band returned to the studio to record the new album. This time three members of THE MISSION collaborated and performed on the new album, Wayne Hussey (Isolation), Mark G.Thwaite (Pristine) and Richie Vernon (Blue). The result is an album with 12 unique tracks representing the whole Dead Guitars universe including mid and uptempo tracks like Miss America or Pristine, strong epic/psychedelic songs like Silver Cross River and moody pieces like Lazy Moon or Raise Your Flags. The songs are covered by strong lyrics based on powerful and melancholic songwriting.
